for iOS devices a while ago in the form of PS4 Remote Play. The initial release worked pretty well on iOS. Sony then brought in DualShock 4 support about a year ago with iOS 13’s release. That update still required players to use touch controls for the PS button or the touchpad functions on the controller. Today, that issue has been addressed with Sony’s big update to the app. The app is now called PS Remote Play

and it has been updated to add support for PS5 as a highlight. This update also lets you use button assignments made on PS4 or PS5 in Remote Play. It is going to be interesting to see how well the DualSense controller (PS5) works when it launches on iOS and whether app developers can take full advantage of the new features. Check out the DualSense trailer below:

The big update for current PS4 owners is that the PS button, touch pad, and motion sensor on the DualShock 4 controller will now be usable during Remote Play. This requires iOS 14 and iPadOS 14. The app is now a lot better thanks to not forcing players to use the touch controls on screen during Remote Play. Hopefully we get a demo of the Remote Play improvements for PS5 soon since the console is out in a month. If you’re on iOS 14 or iOS 13 and still haven’t decided between getting a DualShock 4 or Xbox One controller,

. The Xbox One controller even works on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S but the DualShock 4 controller will not work on PS5. Download the PS Remote Play app

. Are you planning on buying a PS5 at launch and do you use Remote Play often on PS4?
