Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. It’s not my favorite list of games this week, friends. But I don’t control what does or doesn’t get updated, I only round them up. That is just what I’ve done. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!

In terms of sheer popularity, this is probably the biggest game getting updated this week. Many games have benefited from the vacuum left by Fortnite‘s absence on the App Store, and it’s perhaps suitable that PUBG seems to have gained the most. This update introduces the Titan Strikes events, with plenty of rewards and cool gimmicks on offer. There are a lot more cool things yet to come that were seeded in this update, so do keep an eye on it if you’re into this sort of thing.

This update is a couple of weeks old, but I missed it at the time and just felt like popping it in here. No particular reason. It’s not the wildest update or anything, but I do like to mention Fire Emblem Heroes here and there. This update added Reserves, which allows you to keep up to 1,000 Heroes. Yeah, watch out, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fans. There are so many more anime sword guys the developers could add. You don’t even know. On top of that, seven weapon types have been added for the My Summoner unit, and new skills are available for Legendary Gunnthra and Legendary Ryoma.

Look, none of the other usual candidates for the obligatory free-to-play matching puzzle game update had anything to offer, outside of one of the Blast games. And we did one of those last week, so here we are. Cookie Jam. It has some sort of summer update thing happening, which means new levels and new events. How many? What kind? It is a mystery. The update notes are not very descriptive, and I have a feeling I would have to play a few thousand levels to find out. Just know that it did indeed update. Phew, the galaxy is at peace.

It’s been a few weeks since I checked in on AFK Arena, and it’s been a busy beaver with some sort of Prince of Persia business. Anyway, there’s a new Graveborn hero in the form of Desira: The Sinister Siren, and like other new heroes she comes with a Bountiful Trials event and test play. There are some new features and adventures, mostly related to Prince of Persia. Some balance adjustments have been made, and a few bugs were fixed. About par for the course with this game, though I’m finding myself appreciating its off-beat collaborations.

Here’s another game where you can more or less predict what each update will entail. This one isn’t going to rock that boat any, I promise. A new character named Ewella is now available, complete with a Fateful Encounter. This update does fix a couple of bugs related to the UI and localization, as well. That’s really about it, though. I’ve noticed the content for this is slowing down just a little lately. Whether that’s down to age or the developer having to tend to multiple versions, I don’t know. Well, enjoy the new character at the very least.

This game more or less runs from one event to the next, and as such its updates are almost always introducing new and upcoming ones. The event this one brings in is the Fluff Mountain Den, which allows you to play with your friends. You have to be a Den member to join in, so make sure you do that before things get rolling. That seems to be it for this update, which is odd because Merge Dragons usually likes to get at least two events packed into each one of these. That’s the way it goes sometimes, I guess.

Lots of new stuff in this latest version of Star Traders: Frontiers, which is about normal for this developer. There’s a new level 8 Autocannon, a new level 8 Missile type, and several adjustments to the balance of various elements. Certain rumors have gotten boosted spawn rates, some fuel costs have been increased, and some bugs have been fixed. There are many other little tweaks and improvements, so do pop in to the game to see what’s what. I mean, there’s a solid chance another update will be delivered between when I write this and when you see it. That’s just how those Trese Brothers are. I’ll give this the coveted UMMSotW award for the week, mostly because nothing else is jumping out at me.

Let’s look in on a few of Apple Arcade updates for funsies. Spire Blast has some new content for you to dive into, should you choose to. There’s a new world, Sweetonia, with two new mechanics to contend with. There’s a help system that you can call on when you’re in a pinch, and the new Star Chests award you with goodies for collecting stars. Apart from that, this new version does a bit of balance adjusting, fixes a few bugs, and improves overall performance.

For the next Apple Arcade game update, let’s check out Survival Z. I hear zombies are super-hot these days, after all. This new version of the game adds a fresh mode for you to try out. Vial Run sees you trying to bring a survivor as far as possible against an endless supply of zombies. Fun, fun. If you can pull off the weekly goals, you’ll earn some abilities. You can also compete against other players to see where you stack up. This is the first major content update for the game since its release, I believe. Hopefully the first of many.

We’ll finish things up with one more Apple Arcade game update, this time for WayForward’s Marble Knights. There are two new mini-games available to play in the game. In Bombing Blast, up to four players can battle with explosives and see who lasts the longest. Lazer Orb Arena sees you using your Lazer Trail to try to defeat the other players, Tron Light Cycle style. That one is available for up to four players, as well. Every update seems to add more mini-games to play in this one, so props to the developers for their hustle on that.

That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
