Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. Lots of premium games got updates this week, at least compared to usual. Of course, the regulars are here as well, so really, it’s kind of a good mix all around. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself using AppShopper or by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s dig in!

The Quest, $7.99 Well, you know that if an update for The Quest shows up in this feature, it’s probably because a new expansion is out. And hey, a new expansion is out. Er, sort of. It’s actually the Celtic Doom expansion that had previously been released for what is now The Quest Classic, all spiffed up in HD and such for the current version of The Quest. As usual, the expansion is available as a separate app for $2.99, but once you’ve bought it and activated it in the main app, you can just play it from there.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, Free I wonder if the next main Animal Crossing game’s release will be a good thing or a bad thing for this game? Oh well, no sense worrying about it right now. The latest update adds a couple of new features in the form of Blather’s Treasure Trek and Pete’s Parcel Service, and some changes have been made to the garden feature to make it easier to deal with. Maximum friendship levels have been increased, so get started inviting the whole rotation back to your campground. There are also some new fruits, some improved camera controls, and some tweaks to the UI. Oh, and bug fixes. Can’t forget those.

Dan The Man, Free I am actually kind of surprised this game is still going, given all that its publisher has been going through since it launched. But there you go. Not too much in this latest update, but it’s probably enough to get people to open the app again, and that’s mostly the point of this sort of thing. It adds new enemies to the survival mode that offer up special prizes, and some new leaderboards to ring in the New Year. Have fun beating up on the new fighters!

The Greedy Cave, $0.99 Lunar New Year alert! Yes, it is a holiday-themed update for The Greedy Cave this time around, and it is festive and maybe greedy? I don’t know. The Lion Dance Helmet has been added to the game, obtainable through KTplay community events. Also new to this version is a fishing feature that lets you throw out a line in town and try to catch up some gold quality rewards. Also: performance optimizations and bug fixes!

Templar Battleforce Elite, $9.99 Ah, always good to see a Trese Brothers joint appear in my list. Hey, you know those cool cats have a great new game out? It’s called Star Traders: Frontiers, and you should definitely buy it. Anyway, as for this game, which is also good and should be bought, we’ve got a nice new update that gives Engineers the ability to drop landmines. Careful use of landmines can make for fun surprises for your enemies. The other change made this time is that you can’t throw grenades without a target anymore. Oh well, use landmines instead.

Bloons TD 6, $4.99 The ever-popular Bloons TD 6 gets a nice little content update this time around, adding a new intermediate map called Karts ‘n’ Darts. There is also a new hero skin with the intriguing name of Sentai Churchill. Don’t know what that’s about, but that name is amazing. This update also optimizes the game’s start-up sequence, gussies up some of the MOAB-class bloons, and makes a bunch of balance changes. Also, bug fixes! Because there are always bug fixes. I’ve never given Bloons TD 6 an award before, so why not hand it the coveted UMMSotW award for this week?

Fortnite, Free Epic isn’t exactly the most popular company around in some circles at the moment, but it doesn’t seem to be hurting Fortnite any. The latest update adds the Sneaky Snowman, a clever way to skulk around the map and surprise your foes. But the biggest improvement can’t be boiled down to a mere item or weapon, friends. This update also adds controller support. Yes, you can now play the mobile version of Fortnite with your controller of choice, provided it’s supported. That’s a pretty big game-changer.

Brawl Stars, Free Oh, it’s another Lunar New Year event. The Lunar Brawl adds three new skins and a whole new environment that fit the season, but even if you’re not into that particular festival, there’s still more here for you. A new mythic brawler named Gene is coming soon, and he’s a useful fighter that can attack at any range. This update also includes new skins for Bull, Poco, and Rico, along with new Brawler models, effects, and voice-overs.

Toon Blast, Free Yep, it’s time for the obligatory free-to-play puzzle game update. This week, I picked Toon Blast because… well, King’s updates use the same text every time, but the Toon Blast devs actually try to spice things up. Anyway, there are 50 new levels to play, apparently centered around the idea of exercising and dieting to lose that holiday weight. Hmm, I thought one of the benefits of being an animated character was that you didn’t have to worry about that sort of thing? Oh well.

FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS, Free Let’s finish things up this week with an update to Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. It has a few different things going, including a UI improvement that splits unit inventory into Normal and Enhancement tabs, a new currency called Trust Coins, a new feature called Moogle Cave Expedition to earn said currency, and some decorations to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Oh, and when the game needs to update, it will now say how big the update is. That’s nice. Finally, bug fixes and optimizations. Yep.

That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
