Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. It’s almost, but not entirely, all about Halloween this time around. The holiday is just around the corner and games are taking advantage of it to have a bit of fun. I’ve grabbed some of those along with a couple less spooky updates for this week’s article. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself using AppShopper or by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!

There are a couple of new additions to SEGA Heroes this week, one of which is related to Chu Chu Rocket. Our second character from the new game, ChuPea, has arrived. She’s a Legendary Red Tank with the ability to create shields and boost the team’s evasion. The game has also got an event going on right now based on Golden Axe, though it is on its last day. You can earn some Ax Battler shards along with other rewards by playing the event, which sees Golden Axe characters boosted and a bunch of enemies drawn from the games.

It’s time for the scary season in Dan the Man, so get ready for some spooky times. The Survival Mode has been infected with a bunch of monsters, leaving you to fight for your life inside a killer thriller. You can also score the Fright Zone at a special discount for the time being. Naturally, the icon has been changed to suit the season, along with a few other little bells and whistles.

Well, this update is surely the biggest news involving Hearthstone in recent weeks, right? Hm. In case you’re still interested in playing this game, the Halloween event has arrived in the form of new Tavern Brawls and Rewards. 23 cards from the Wild mode have temporarily been reinstated into Standard, and there are some new portraits for people who rack up 1,000 wins.

It’s been a long journey, but the story in Ticket to Earth is now coming to a close. This update adds the final episode, Episode 4, to the game. You can now see the ending of this wild sci-fi drama. You also get a bunch of bug fixes, including one pretty important one that addresses a problem that cropped up with the initial Episode 4 update. This is a great game that I feel like some people have slept on, and now that it’s all finished there’s really no excuse not to check it out. This gets the coveted UMMSotW award for this week.

If you guessed this update would involve a thinly-veiled Halloween event, you’re right. The… let’s see here, Witches Festival? That’s a thing that is going on in the world of the Elder Scrolls right now. There are four new quests that the game describes as frightening, and some season-appropriate decorations you can earn and craft. And while the development team was doing all that, they also improved spells so that they deal more damage and can’t be interrupted.

Rise of Kingdoms only seems to be getting more popular as time goes on. This latest update brings another pile of content for you to work through, much of it involving a new event called The Ceroli Crisis. It’s a cross-kingdom event where governors can team up in groups of four to take on big battles. This version also adds in Lucerne Scrolls, which have nothing to do with the Canadian milk company. Much to my chagrin. Instead, they’re a list of challenges to complete that will give you some cool rewards at the end of the season based on how many you’ve cleared. The equipment system also sees some upgrades and changes. Round things out with some optimizations and other adjustments, and that will about do it.

The latest version for Nintendo’s highly-successful Fire Emblem Heroes is now available, and it adds a whole new mode called Hall of Forms for you to challenge. We’re already days deep into the first event connected to that mode, but there’s still plenty of time to join in. You take a set team and level them up through a bunch of battles. This mode uses its own stamina, so you’re not losing out on anything by running through it each day. Also new in this version is the ability to eat with your Heroes at The Field and Dining Hall. Probably not the last influence we’ll see from Three Houses, I’m sure.

It’s an update for a free-to-play matching puzzle game, and that means the usual batch of new stages and some weird disconnected text in the update notes to give them some kind of context. You get 50 new levels, and the explanation has something to do with skateboarding for whatever reason. It doesn’t really feel like optimum skating weather right now where I’m at or where I’m from, but what do toons care for human meteorology? Nothing, I can assure you. Nothing whatsoever. Enjoy the levels.

Well, look. A game with the title Matchington Mansion can’t really be counted on for clever naming schemes. Thus the Halloween event here ends up being called Spookington Mansion. Sure, why not? Apparently you get more than 30 new levels, a spooky mansion to decorate, some kind of trick-or-treat thing, and a Halloween sale. Oh, and a new theme because that’s more or less what every proper Halloween event does. There are some other bits in this new version, but it just amounts to a new room and some new levels as usual. And it also makes some bug fixes, like any good little update should do.

If there are any themes or settings that go with Halloween, Harry Potter is one of the more popular ones. Hogwarts Mystery has a Halloween event going on this month with special events and some new pets. Apparently there is also a new Snapshot Mode that lets you show off your dormitory designs, and some added incentivized video offers. Because of course there are. You know what game had great Halloween events? Avengers Academy. NO I AM NOT OVER IT YET.

That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
