Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. Wow, there are lots of neat updates in the list today. Some Apple Arcade games got huge updates, some free-to-play titles have neat events going, and we’ve got a couple of the usual suspects to go with those. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!

When something unusual is occurring in your local area, which person are you going to telephone? Ha, fantastic song, I remember the lyrics perfectly. Jetpack Joyride‘s latest collaboration is with the classic franchise Ghostbusters, mostly drawing from the first film. It features what the description calls “iconic characters". They include Zuul (the Gatekeeper dog-thing that Dana Barrett becomes), Vinz (the Keymaster dog-thing that Louis Tully turns into), and Mooglie (apparently, this is the name of the ghost in the logo, which I did not know until now). You get a free Slime Blower Jetpack, and you can ride a Terror Dog. There’s also a Dr. Barry Buster costume, three new jetpacks in the form of the Proton Pack, Slimer, and the Filing Cabinet, the Ecto-1, some new vehicle and SAM skins, and of course some great backgrounds based on the movies.

AFK Arena steps into the Best Game Updates fray once again, and it’s a very usual update by the standards of the game. You get a new character, the Hypogean Hero Leofric – The Malevolent Menace, and a test play and Bountiful Trials event to go with them. Some new adventures, including the Void Rift and Track of the Sands, plus a new Tank Class Exclusive Artifact called Life’s Limit. The new content is rounded out with a huge list of balance adjustments and UI tweaks, as is the typical case with AFK Arena updates.

The Black Order have returned once again, like the bad pennies that they are. This update for Marvel Future Fight doesn’t have any new characters, which is rather uncommon. But it does have some new uniforms, specifically for Proxima Midnight, Corvus Glaive, Ebony Maw, Black Dwarf, and Supergiant. Proxima gets her Tier-3 version, and Black Dwarf, Corvus, and Supergiant get their Potential Transcended. Finally, a Supergiant World Boss: Ultimate has been added to the game. What can I say? Needs more Spider-Man.

Sociable Soccer ’21: it’s just the sensible soccer game to play. The game received a rather large update last week, with some features that fans are sure to dig. There’s a new in-game chat system so that you can communicate with your opponent, which may be a good or bad thing depending on your point of view. There are five new referees, just for fun. The touch controls have been improved, and there are now three separate control schemes to choose from. There are 10 new world tournaments to play, with more than 100 trophies to collect. All of the players and teams have been fully updated for the 2021 season, there are new in-game player models, the UI has been massively overhauled, and even the CPU AI has been improved. Well, I’m sold. Take your coveted UMMSotW award, devs. You’ve more than earned it.

The first half of this game hit Apple Arcade a while back. Hey, it’s always cool to get an early taste of games, but story-based games like this stopping right in the middle of the plot just doesn’t feel good to me. Well, now that the game has released on other platforms, this Apple Arcade version has been updated to keep it at parity. The rest of the story is here, naturally. So are English voices, collectible stickers, and a gallery. So if you were waiting for the complete game to be ready to go before diving into it, wait no longer. Just don’t talk about the story online or you might get arrested or something.

Another drop of new characters for Disney Heroes: Battle Mode, and as is often the case the selections are a little bit out there. There are two new heroes, both from Pixar’s Up. Or as we call it here in Japan, Old Man Carl’s Flying-in-the-Sky House. One is Russell, the little boy who accidentally accompanies Carl on his adventure. That makes sense, I suppose. Russell was a big part of the movie, after all. The other character is Kevin. You remember Kevin, right? It’s that bird that Charles Muntz is trying to catch. That’s an odd pick, but that’s how this game goes. Also in this update: Power Promote, Red Rank improvements, and the usual bug fixes and performance enhancements.

The stylish Apple Arcade action-adventure got a good update, adding some new content while making a few little improvements here and there. Two new blocks have been added. The Music Box, in the Scorching Frontier set, plays a musical note when you step on it or hit it. The Reanimator, found in the Castle Feud set, respawns defeated enemies. Loading times have been improved for some boxes, and the logic for recommending adventures is now a bit better as well. It’s always nice to have new blocks to play with, and I think everyone can agree that shorter loading times are always better.

There’s a whole bunch of new stuff to check out in Sneaky Sasquatch this time around. Like motorcycles! And a dirt racetrack for those motorcycles! And a modifications garage at the racetrack where you can customize those motorcycles! Okay, I’m going to stop with the exclamation points now. There are lots of new parts, a bicycle for those who prefer a gentler pace, a new delivery job, monster trucks, and various contests and events to give you a chance to really dig into those new vehicles. Not very sneaky, not very sasquatch, but very Sneaky Sasquatch.

Our obligatory free-to-play matching puzzle game update this week is for Gardenscapes. I like to check in on the Austinverse now and then, after all. Anyway, the Tropical Season is starting, and those with Golden Tickets will be able to make friends with a monkey. Living the dream, really. The Boat Race event has been updated to allow you to compete with other players for rewards. Coming up later in the month, you’ll be able to help chef Ralph Ray create a garden on top of a skyscraper. This update also adds new story content in the garden where Austin and his friends are trying to solve the puzzle behind a mysterious box in a brand-new area.

SP!NG, or as we call it in Japan SPBIKKURIMARKNG, got a bunch of new levels not that long ago, and there’s already a fresh batch waiting for us. Nice. Thirty-six new Classic Levels, filled with nasty challenges and gimmicks to master. The new Gravity Field gimmick will cause you all kinds of headaches in ways you can probably guess, and a few ways you can’t. There’s a new theme, the N!GHT GLADE, with new characters to unlock and a sweet night-time forest theme. Rounding out the new content, there’s a new mode called The Lab where you’ll face off against the hardest levels the developers could come up with. Finally, there’s newly-added support for Nimbus controllers, full haptic feedback support on devices that can use it, some new achievements, and the usual bug fixes and performance improvements we all know and love.

That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
