One of the hallmark features of the

when it launched in 2015 was its support for 4K content, and NVIDIA is set to bolster that ecosystem further. Though the company is mum on a launch timeframe other than "soon," NVIDIA says that software update 3.2 will bring a brand new VUDU app with 4K streaming support.

YouTube is also getting a bump up in quality with on the Shield Android TV with support for 4K at 60 frames per second. All of this is in addition to the spate of new

apps announced during Google I/O, including Spotify, Deezer, NPR and more.

If you happen to have a newer TV that supports high dynamic range (HDR) content, there's some good news on the horizon for you as well. The next update will include support for streaming HDR content from Netflix. On top of that, NVIDIA's GameStream platform will support HDR streaming if you happen to have a PC packing one of the company's new Pascal-based GPUs.

Finally, although Shield Android TV owners still have a bit longer to wait for the 3.2 update, you won't have to wait much longer to check out some new games. Stealth-action title Shadwen is now available via GeForce Now, while Homefront: The Revolution will hit the service soon. Meanwhile, Resident Evil 5 will hit Google Play as a Shield Android TV exclusive on May 19 for a launch price of $10 (regularly $15).
