had announced the auto-framing feature for Google Duo last year, and it was included in the first feature drop update for Pixel smartphones. It was exclusive to the Pixel 4 series, but the feature now seems to be rolling out to select Galaxy smartphones from Samsung.

series is now receiving Google Duo’s auto-framing feature. During video calls, the new feature keeps the user in focus by zooming towards their face when they step away from the phone (as long as they stay within the camera’s field-of-view). The camera also smoothly pans towards the user when they move around.

When the feature is activated, the video calling app automatically switches to the wide-angle mode. It doesn’t work when switched to the rear-facing camera, though. Google Duo’s auto-framing feature is supposed to be exclusive to Pixel devices, so we don’t know if the rollout to Galaxy devices is intentional.
