Samsung’s next Fan Edition smartphone appears to be closing in on its market debut, even though you probably shouldn’t make plans for an imminent release. The battery that Samsung will use for the upcoming

was recently certified by Safety Korea. The certificate reveals the manufacturer and one key design detail. And, of course, it technically brings the phone closer to launch.

and carries model number EB-BS711ABY, corresponding with the phone’s expected model number: SM-S711. The Safety Korea application (via

Nevertheless, the photo above does confirm that the Galaxy S23 FE battery design adheres to Samsung’s new policy and will have a pull tab (the blue bit) and/or pouch. This component will make the unit easier to replace, which, in turn, should result in the Galaxy S23 FE getting a higher repairability score from independent repair shops and reviewers.

Rumored Galaxy S23 FE battery specifications

, however, the upcoming Fan Edition phone could feature a newer Exynos 2200 SoC. Rumors have it that Samsung will try to equip the next FE device with a slightly updated Exynos 2200 chip to increase its Exynos market share and prove that its chipset manufacturing process has improved.

Now, although this battery certificate at Safety Korea technically brings the phone closer to its debut, reports suggest that Samsung won’t release the Galaxy S23 FE this summer. In fact, it may launch the Fan Edition phone very late in the year, months after the upcoming Unpacked event, or even in early 2024.

will host the next Unpacked in late July and reveal its latest foldable phones. Then, it could unveil the Galaxy S24 series in early 2024 at the first Unpacked event of the year.
