In a surprise move, Samsung has rolled out this month’s

for the Galaxy S5 in Europe. As well as the usual slew of bug fixes, the upgrade transports patches for 50 vulnerabilities in the Android OS and 12 in the firm’s software.

We’re shocked that Samsung is continuing to distribute updates for the three-year-old Galaxy S5. Typically, the stops actively updating its—budget-friendly and former flagship—smartphones after their second birthday, as per its official two-year support period.

and would like to check to see if the update is ready for your handset, open up Settings, select Software Update, then tap Download Updates Manually. Alternatively, you can wait until you receive an alert prompting you to install the OTA, but it could take a little longer to arrive.​
