Samsung’s strategy to update older flagships with newer features is not new. And if this rumor turns out to be true then the updated DeX might not be the only Galaxy Note 10-specific feature that will eventually make its way onto older devices like the and the Galaxy S9 series. That is, as long as the hardware supports said features. Things like AR Doodle which are more dependent on the S Pen and ToF camera might not make it onto the Galaxy S9 series, but others could.
These types of retrograde feature updates usually happen when major software versions are being released, so we’ll likely have to wait until Android Q and One UI 2.0 arrives. Case in point, the to run DeX directly through a USB connection — introduced on the Galaxy Note 9 — without requiring the special dock when it got Android 9 Pie.
