Honor 5X brings metal body, fingerprint security and 1080p display for £189.99.
Huawei's Honor brand has today announced the arrival of the , a new entry-level device designed to bring the core experience of the into a more affordable handset. Priced at £189.99 in the UK and available to buy from today via Amazon and Huawei's own Vmall storefront, the Honor 5X comes in gold, silver and grey color variants. In the UK, Three will also range the handset in the near future.
As for the hardware itself, highlights include a metal chassis, Huawei's excellent fingerprint sensor tech and a 5.5-inch 1080p display. The whole package is powered by a Snapdragon 616 octa-core processor with 2GB of RAM, paired with 16GB of storage and microSD expandability. It's also a dual-SIM phone, letting you use one for LTE data while still receiving calls on the other.
On top of that you're looking at an ample 3000 mAh battery and a 13-megapixel rear camera behind an f/2.0 lens.
On the software side, Huawei's EMUI 3.1 software layer sits atop — an update to is promised in the near future. And as we discovered in our , Huawei has managed to clean up EMUI to some degree, though a few nagging software issues do remain.
Nevertheless, we're still looking at a capable handset at a highly competitive price.
