is corroborating this development with a new report. Per Bloomberg's sources, Sony is aiming to produce around 10 million PS5 units by the end of 2020. This decision is being made as a result of Sony seeing increased demand for gaming due to the global pandemic. While shipping lanes have cleared somewhat, there are still some concerns about being able to ship these consoles in time for the holiday shopping period.
NPD analyst Mat Piscatella that if these numbers are achieved, around 2 million consoles will likely be available in the U.S, making for a "very good launch holiday" compared to many other console launches.
