of the new year which will soon be rolling out for supported devices. Samsung has revealed on its blog what vulnerabilities have been fixed in Android and in its own software.

The latest security maintenance release for Samsung devices brings fixes for five critical vulnerabilities discovered in the Android operating system as well as fixes for a plethora of low, moderate and high-risk vulnerabilities.

The most severe security vulnerability was discovered in the operating system’s Media framework which could enable a remote attacker to use a special file to execute malicious code in the context of a privileged process.

Samsung has also fixed 13 Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items in its own software. These fixes are also included in the January 2018 security patch. Samsung will soon start rolling out the January 2018 security patch to supported devices.
