Samsung Display’s principal engineer has revealed that foldable phones may not be commercialized until 2019 as there are still technical challenges to be addressed. This news comes shortly after online claiming the firm will take the wraps off the handsets later this year.
“Because the bezel-free display currently sells well, we still have enough time to develop foldable display. The technology is expected to be mature around 2019,” said Kim Tae-woong, Samsung Display’s principal engineer. It’s believed that as demand for bezel-free devices slows, foldable displays will be introduced.
Bad news for folk hoping to pick up the long-rumored this year, then.
