It was rumored last month that Samsung could soon start like Xiaomi and LeEco. Samsung Electro-Mechanics is already supplying Xiaomi with single-lens camera modules so it won’t be surprising to see the two take their relationship further. It has now confirmed that dual-lens camera modules will be sold to Chinese partners in the near future.
“The company is currently working on installing the production facilities for the dual-lens camera modules at its global production factories,” an executive from Samsung Electro-Mechanics revealed during a conference call with reporters and analysts. The company has said that it will begin selling its dual-camera modules to Chinese OEMs in the July-September period. It did not name the Chinese OEMs that will be sourced this component from the company. Xiaomi is again said to be one of the OEMs sourcing dual-lens camera modules from Samsung.
