Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for February 10th, 2020. Today’s article is a slightly shorter one as I ended up pinched for time, but we’ve got all of the important stuff here. Some news about more fighters coming to the popular Dragon Ball FighterZ, a couple of highly dubious new releases, and a rather nice list of new sales that feature quite a few of the regular suspects. Let’s wade on in and see what sticks!
News
More Characters Coming to ‘Dragon Ball FighterZ’
Dragon Ball FighterZ has been a great treat for fans of the popular series, and it keeps on growing with its success. Just announced is that Season 3 will be starting on February 26th, and with it comes a new FighterZ Pass you can buy. Ultimately, that Pass will work out to five more characters, and two of them have been announced. Kefla, the powerful fusion of Kale and Caulifla, comes to the game on February 28th, with access two days earlier for Pass owners. Next, coming sometime in Spring, is Goku in his Ultra Instinct form. Yeah, stock up on the hair gel, friends. No word on pricing for FighterZ Pass 3 yet, but presumably it’ll be around the same price as the $24.99 FighterZ Pass 2.
New Releases
ELEA: Paradigm Shift ($7.99)
Well, this game is the trifecta of pain: a relatively poor game that runs badly on the Switch and ends far too early. It’s too bad, because there are some neat ideas to the premise and the game looks nice in still shots. But you can’t lean on good looks if the framerate is consistently poor, nor can you lean on the narrative if the whole thing ends at what feels a lot like the prologue chapter. Walk around in first person, deal with some light adventure elements, enjoy the occasional moments where the art direction overrides the technical issues, and console yourself with the idea that you only spent eight bucks on this mess, I suppose.
Help Me Doctor ($7.99)
But hey, there’s more than one way to regret spending eight bucks today. Our other option today is Help Me Doctor, a game clearly inspired by Papers, Please but not even in the same galaxy of quality or entertainment value. You play as a doctor who has to see patients with a wide variety of weird symptoms. They’ll present their paperwork, you decide on a diagnosis, take your money, and go on to the next one. This seems like an idea that should work, but the game gets boring within a few minutes because there’s no real reason to care about anything you’re looking at.
Sales
Two big publishers are having sales on many of their titles right now. Both Activision and WB are rocking some discounts on their Switch titles, meaning you get nice prices on games like Spyro Reignited Trilogy, Diablo III, LEGO DC Super-Villains, Scribblenauts: Showdown, and more. A couple of last week’s new releases are also running launch sales, and a few other games are rounding things out. In the outbox, the Spike Chunsoft sale is coming to a close. Last call for grabbing cheaper Steins;Gate games and the excellent AI: The Somnium Files. Spike Chunsoft doesn’t do sales very often, so grab those games if you’re interested.
