‘The Witcher 3’ Gets an Amazing Update with Cross-Platform Saves and More

thewitcher3postupdate.jpg

The developers behind the Switch version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt said the next update would be worth the wait, and they weren’t kidding. Version 3.6 should be available everywhere by now, and it adds a bunch of great features to the game. Cross-platform saves, for one! Yes, you can now move your saves from the Steam or GOG version of the game to your Switch and back again. There’s now touch support, allowing you to directly tap on elements of the UI and play Gwent more comfortably. There are also a bunch of graphical options you can adjust now, and the results of doing so are quite impressive. Going along with that, there are some general performance improvements and a whole lot of bug fixes. I didn’t think it was possible for this port to get any better, but here we are.

Tune In For a Special ‘Animal Crossing’ Direct Tomorrow

animalcrossingdirectfeb2020.jpg

Everyone has been waiting for the next Nintendo Direct, and it’s frankly driving some of you up a wall. Well, we have a next Direct, but it’s totally devoted to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Check it out tomorrow at 6:00 am PT/9:00 am ET and enjoy 25 minutes of pure Isabelle-fueled hype, friends. Or wait for me to summarize it on Friday. So many great choices ahead of you. I’ll leave the final decision to you.

This Week’s ‘Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’ Event Celebrates the 90s

smashevent1990s.jpg

Only 90s kids will get this one. Well, no. Everyone who plays Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will get this one, because everyone is here and that includes you. The latest event is a tournament celebrating the 1990s. Only 1990s characters can join in on this tournament, which kicks off on Friday and will run through the weekend. So who does that include? Oh, lots of characters. Pikachu and many of the other Pokemon. Yoshi. Kirby. Cloud. Sonic the Hedgehog. Even Ocarina of Time‘s Link can be used. Hey, he technically counts!

A New Switch Lite Color is Coming in April

switchlitecoral.jpg

The Switch Lite already comes in a few nice colors, but it never hurts to have more. Those hoping for a pink system will be happy to hear about the upcoming release of the Coral Switch Lite. It will be available from April 3rd, and pre-orders have already opened. The price will be the same as other Switch Lite consoles, $199.99 USD. Very cool Nintendo, but where’s my Atomic Purple Switch Lite? Come on, see-through systems are definitely due for a comeback!

New Releases

3000th Duel ($14.99)

3000thduel.jpg

What if Metroidvania but Soulsborne elements? That’s the bold question 3000th Duel dares to ask, and the answer this time is “not bad". Okay, I’m having some fun here. This is the new trend in Metroidvania games, after all. This is no Hollow Knight by any means but it’s decent. The action is fast, exploration is decent enough, the boss fights are nasty and epic, and it’s really long as these things go. If you don’t like bouncing off stupidly hard bosses or prefer quick pacing in your games, you’ll probably want to keep on jogging, but that’s how these things go these days.

Warface (Free)

warface.jpg

I’m sorry, I can’t stop giggling at the name of this game. Like, Warface seems like a name that someone who really doesn’t give a fig would come up with for an FPS. Anyway, this game was originally developed by Crytek and has been around for about a half decade or so on other platforms. It’s a massively multiplayer online first-person shooter with support for up to 32 players. You can play PvP or PvE, there are tons of maps, and more than 200 customizable weapons. Not sure how well it runs on the Switch, but hey, it won’t cost you anything to find out. The game has lots of fans, though it’s not hard to find people who hate it too. So pretty much like any online multiplayer game.

Sales

(North American eShop, US Prices)

Well, the big news today in discounts is that NIS America is running on sale on most of its games. You can grab some excellent titles like the Disgaea games, The Alliance Alive HD, Ys VIII, and the Psikyo Shooting Stars collections at nice prices. Outside of those games, I’d also highly recommend that shoot-em-up fans check out the Vasara Collection. For five little dollars, you get a nice handful of quality classic shooters. In the outbox, lots of decent games are ending their sales. While many of them pop up often in these lists, some of them have never been so cheap. Comb through carefully, friends.

The big highlights for me are Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition and the Double Dragon & Kunio-Kun: Retro Brawler Bundle, but there are plenty of other neat games to dig into too. Any big news or sales that come along will also be featured, and that will probably be that. I hope you all have a stellar Wednesday, and as always, thanks for reading!
