forcefully enabled the upcoming “Show install progress bubble” toggle in the Play Store’s notification settings. When enabled, the installation progress of an app on the Play Store will appear in a floating bubble, which you can drag to any part of your screen. There are some benefits of this new floating bubble download progress indicator for the Play Store.

Apparently, you will always be updated about the progress of the app installation even if you are browsing your phone to kill time until the app completes the installation. Also, you don’t need to go to the app’s description page to know the exact installation percentage.

Google Play Store also getting ‘app archiving’ soon

Another cool feature that is coming to the Google Play Store pretty soon is the ability to archive Android apps to save storage space on your device. In fact, in the November Play System Update, Google announced that “app archiving” will soon be rolled out for Android devices. Archiving, for those wondering, will allow you to uninstall an app, but keep all the personal data for the app intact.

Once this feature goes live, after you have archived an app, when you go back to reinstall the app, the Play Store will show the “Restore” button instead of “Install.” Hitting the “Restore” button will redirect you to a dedicated page rather than happening in the background, like traditional app installation. You won’t need to sign back into an account as everything will be restored back to exactly how you left it.
