During a session at the developer conference, it was revealed that both the Unreal and Unity game engines will support the newly announced Daydream VR platform for Android.
This means that two of the tops game engines, which are already used to make hundreds of titles, will be able to have those games run on the Daydream platform. Epic Games, the creator of the Unreal Engine, offered more information on its Daydream support :
At Epic our mission is to give developers the very best tools for building immersive and visually impressive experiences with great performance on every platform we support. We have been creating VR experiences for many years now that not only push visual fidelity but what's possible in terms of input, interaction, characters and gameplay mechanics Every project we work on extends the capabilities of Unreal Engine, and we pass these improvements to developers on a daily basis. Today we're proud to be part of this new chapter in VR history.
Epic also showed off a quick demo of a fantasy game, created in just a couple of weeks for Daydream. It showcased how a game, combined with a headset and the Daydream controller, could be used to interact with its environment in new ways.
