I was driving my wife's SUV through Khalifa City on my way to drop the kids off at school when I heard this awful grinding noise from the engine, followed by a sudden loss of power and a cloud of smoke from the hood. I managed to pull over safely thank goodness, but now I'm stuck on the side of the road with three kids in the backseat, all of them getting increasingly restless and late for school. I've never had to call a tow truck before in my life, so I'm completely lost about who to contact and what the process even looks like. I've been scrolling through my phone trying to find a because I really don't want to be sitting here for hours while my kids miss their classes and I miss my morning meetings. The thing is, I've heard some horror stories about towing companies that take forever to arrive or charge ridiculous fees once they get there, and I'm honestly worried about getting ripped off in my moment of desperation. I'm also not sure whether I should call my insurance company's roadside assistance instead – I think I might have towing coverage included in my policy but I've never used it and I'm not entirely sure how it works or whether they'll actually send someone reliable. I'm also concerned about the safety aspect – I don't want to leave my family stranded here while I figure things out, but I also don't want to let just any random tow truck driver handle my wife's car, especially if they don't know how to properly secure it for towing. I've heard stories about cars being damaged during towing because the driver didn't use the right equipment or didn't secure it properly, and that's the last thing I need on top of whatever engine problem we're dealing with. If anyone in the Khalifa City area has used a towing service recently and can recommend a reliable, fast, and reasonably priced company, I would be incredibly grateful. Also, if anyone knows roughly what a standard tow should cost in this area, that would help me know if I'm being quoted a fair price.
