Supercell is introducing a new Tournaments feature to Clash Royale [], and they've run down how they'll work in separate blog posts. So, is that once you've unlocked the Tournaments mode, you can create a tournament that has a location attached to it, with battles set to use the established Tournament Rules. It's possible to have greater precision to your location, but the idea is that Supercell wants to make it easy to establish local tournaments. Matches won't use a standard bracket format, instead being based around a closed matchmaking system with its own leaderboard.
Why do Tournaments? Well, for participants, . See, tournaments requeire that the creator spend gems to create them, and Supercell is saying the largest tournaments will have gem costs that are some "big numbers" – their emphasis, not ours! These tournament chests will have varying rewards, with the top half of each tournament getting a tournament chest. The top-ranked tournament chest for the most lucrative tournament will get a chest with 15,000 cards. Yes, 15,000. Oh, and these tournament chests are set to include "a lot of epics and legendaries" – again, Supercell's emphasis. You can't enter another tournament while you're unlocking the tournament chest, but the tournament chest is separate from your regular chest count, and the wait is purposeful to keep people playing regular battles and to prevent burnout in the tournaments mode.
