last month after it released Oreo for the handsets. The new flagships come with Oreo out of the box and now the company has released kernel sources for both models.

Samsung has a good habit of releasing kernel sources for its flagship smartphones in a timely fashion. Developers will certainly appreciate that the company has released the kernel sources for the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ without delay.

The Galaxy S9 kernel sources don’t really concern the average user since they’re not meant for them in the first place. It’s for developers who want to create custom ROMs for the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+. With the kernel source code now being available, developers can port the TWRP custom recovery to the device.

The kernel sources for the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ bearing model numbers SM-G960F and SM-G965F respectively with firmware version G960/G965-FXXU1ARB3. Developers who want to create custom recoveries, kernels and ROMs for the new flagship can now use these kernel sources.
