Many have been wondering if the Galaxy Tab S6 will have a headphone jack. It’s another one of Samsung’s high-end device to fall victim to the no headphone jack philosophy. Samsung unveiled the tablet today and the Galaxy Tab S6 most certainly doesn’t have a headphone jack.

For a while now, the company has been slowly testing the waters by leaving out the 3.5-millimeter port on a handful of devices, ranging from affordable to top-tier. The list includes the

The Galaxy Tab S6 doesn’t come with a dongle; the Galaxy Tab S5e does

What makes the situation worse for the Galaxy Tab S6 is that the company didn’t include a USB Type-C-to-3.5mm dongle in the retail box. For a device such as the Galaxy M40 – which doesn’t include a dongle either –, this decision is a little bit easier to understand given the segment to which the phone belongs. However, not including this accessory in the Galaxy Tab S6 retail box is a tougher pill to swallow especially if you consider the fact that the

right out of the box. The Galaxy Tab S6 is a newer, more powerful model and should outshine the Galaxy Tab S5e in every aspect.

The trend continues

, so it seems like the South Korean company is committed to doing away with this feature. This will inevitably upset some fans of the brand, and even though Samsung could alleviate this by including a USB Type-C dongle, it doesn’t do this for every device. The decision seems arbitrary and the whole thing comes across as a little bit short-sighted.

This was inevitable, though, and Samsung had to pull the plug at some point. There’s little chance of the headphone jack making a return on future flagship tablets.
