I get asked this a lot, so here's my honest take. If you're already working and can't afford to pause your career for two years, then yes, it's worth it — but only if you pick the right university.​

What I'd actually check before enrolling:

• Is the university approved for online degrees (not every one is)
• How exams are conducted
• Whether there's real placement support, not just a claim on the website
• Fee structure, including EMI options if you need them

A few of my friends went this route while working full-time in IT and don't regret it. The flexibility genuinely helps if you're disciplined enough to actually study on your own schedule. If you're switching fields entirely though, be ready to put in extra hours outside the syllabus too.
