Description:
The .NET Runtime and .NET Desktop Runtime packages contain all the components you need to develop and run applications developed on Microsoft .NET Core.
Using the .NET development environment, you can create a variety of applications, including web apps and games. These applications can be developed for all common platforms: Windows, Android, iOS, MacOS, and Linux. Finished applications can be published in app stores or deployed to computers, servers, or mobile devices.
The .NET Core platform enables development of applications in C#, F#, and Visual Basic through integration with Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, Sublime Text, and Vim. Support for the .NET Standard specification makes .NET Core compatible with the .NET Framework and Mono APIs.
The platform is open source and can be used for personal, educational, or commercial purposes.

.NET Desktop Runtime (windowsdesktop-runtime)
The .NET Desktop runtime lets you run existing Windows desktop applications. This release includes the .NET runtime; you don't need to install it separately.
.NET Runtime (dotnet-runtime)
The .NET runtime contains only the components necessary to run a console application. Typically, you'll also install the ASP.NET Core or .NET Desktop runtime.
