finalized Econy as the supplier that will handle all of the back-end processing orders for the ultra-thin glass that's going to be used for the Galaxy Z Flip 6. It's a crucial pre-requisite of the production process. For the Galaxy Z Fold 6's ultra-thin glass, Samsung will continue to work with its previous back-end processing contractor, Dowoo Insys.

Back-end processing of the ultra-thin glass helps simplify the manufacturing process. These service providers receive the ultra-thin glass substrate, thin it out and then cut the individual plates out of them that will fit the smartphone's display.

Samsung hasn't made any changes to this part of the supply chain. Both Econy and Dowoo Insys have been its contractors for this process since 2021, with the suppliers handling orders for the Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Z Fold models respectively.

The substrates are sourced from Corning for the Galaxy Z Flip handsets while Schott's substrates are used for the Galaxy Z Fold models. Both companies are part of the supply chain of Samsung's mobile division.

No word as yet on when Samsung intends to formally release the new foldable phones, but all signs point to a July 2024 launch right now.
