Samsung has announced the launch of the second season of Samsung Innovation Campus, a teaching program that aims to upskill youth in emerging technologies. The company's national skilling program is aimed at people aged 18-25 years and will teach students about AI, Big Data, coding, and IoT (Internet of Things).

Samsung Innovation Campus will enhance the employability of Indian youth

The South Korean firm, India's biggest consumer electronics brand, wants to ensure that its youth upskilling and other CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives contribute to the country's growth story. Its initiatives align with the Government of India's Digital India and Skill India programs. As a part of the second season of Samsung Innovation Campus, the company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) to train 3,500 students across India.

Those who enroll in Samsung Innovation Campus will receive classroom and online training. They will also complete hands-on project work in their selected technology areas. They will also get soft skill training to enhance their employability. The AI course includes 270 hours of theoretical training and 80 hours of project work. Those pursuing Big Data or IoT tracks will get 160 hours of training and 80 hours of practical project work. Those who opt for the Coding & Programming course will get access to 80 hours of training and participate in a three-day Hackathon event.

The training will take place in eight educational institutions across India. In the northern region, training centers will be established in Delhi NCR, Gorakhpur, and Lucknow. In the southern region, training centers will be set up in Bengaluru, Chennai, and Sriperumbudur.

This year, apart from upskilling the youth, Samsung will offer a cash prize of INR 100,000 ($1,200) to the toppers from each program segment. Winners will also get to visit Samsung's facilities in Delhi NCR. During this visit, the winners will get mentorship from top-level Samsung executives. National toppers under the program will also get other prizes, including Galaxy Buds and Galaxy Watches.

Mr. JB Park, President and CEO of Samsung Southwest Asia, said, “Samsung has been a committed partner to the nation’s growth over the last 28 years of its presence in India. Our vision has always been aligned with the Government of India’s objectives of skilling the youth and empowering them with professional growth opportunities. Through Samsung Innovation Campus, we are building a platform of skill-based learning that would upskill the youth, create job opportunities in future -tech domains, and effect meaningful change.
