IDC has a market analysis on the global wrist-worn wearable sales in Q1-Q3 2024. According to the research firm, Samsung shipped 11.5 million wrist-worn wearables in the first three quarters of this year, which is much higher than the 9.3 million units it shipped in the same quarters last year. With that, it had a market share of 8.3% this year instead of 6.6% last year.
Despite the growth, the South Korean tech giant is still in fourth place on the sales chart. In the first place is Huawei with 23.6 million shipments and 16.9% market share. Apple is the second place, with 22.5 million shipments and 16.2% market share. In the third position is Xiaomi with 20.5 million shipments and 14.7% market share.
It’s worth mentioning that the wrist-worn wearable sales have dropped from 140.5 million units in Q1-Q3 2023 to 139 million units in Q1-Q3 2024. It is good to see that Samsung managed to grow even though the market shrunk. It shows that the and the are selling very well. However, Samsung needs to do a lot more work to become the market leader.
