Weedo Interactive has announced their new game Shoot the Dragon, and it looks like an intriguing horizontal-scrolling shoot 'em up. The game has you controlling a jetpacked warrior shooting various foes...but he can also transform into a chef bear that launches utensils as weapons while flying through the air? Chalk one up for variety. The animation looks great, there's an absurd set of characters (one boss is a shredding demon) and I'm intrigued by endless shoot 'em ups, which is what this is planned to be. Check out the game in action for yourself:
Weedo also has some interesting thoughts on design philosophy and pacing that they've outlined , including hopes that the story for the game will be meaningful. We'll see – shoot 'em ups do not lend themselves well to story elements – but why not this? The developers are looking for beta testers and taking feedback before the eventual release. Here's some: check to see what the acronym for your game also stands for before referring to it by the acronym. Then again, the unintentional humor is a clever marketing tactic...
