Volume Serial Number is a serial number assigned by the Operating System to a disk volume. The format of volume serial number is: XXXX-XXXX (X maybe 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A, B, C, D, E, F). This disk serial number is automatically generated and assigned when you format a disk partition and there is no documented way to change it without reformatting the disk volume.
