According , lights went out for 10 minutes at ten domestic business sites and forty-four overseas branches located in the USA, Europe, China, and Southeast Asia. Participating Samsung subsidiaries included Samsung Electronics Logitech, Samsung Sales, Service, and Samsung Medison.
Even though the tech giant turned the lights off for 10 minutes instead of a full hour, the company estimates that it saved approximately 3,921 kWh during the Earth Day celebration yesterday.
When converted to greenhouse gases, this will result in a reduction of 1,851 kg CO2-eq, which is roughly the same amount of carbon dioxide 786 pine trees can absorb in a year.
Aside from celebrating Earth Day, Samsung is making efforts to reduce waste and enhance sustainability throughout the year via programs and better technologies. Some highlights include:
