ago, and now, it is available in Australia.

Samsung announced today that prospective buyers in Australia can now purchase the 990 EVO Plus SSD in three memory configurations for the following prices:

  • 1TB 990 EVO Plus for A$195.
  • 2TB 990 EVO Plus for A$319.
  • 4TB 990 EVO Plus for A$629.

As far as specifications go, the 990 EVO Plus is nearly as powerful as the 990 PRO but vastly superior to the original 990 EVO, which Samsung released earlier this year.

Below are the sequential and random speeds of the 990 EVO Plus in different configurations, as well as the TBW (Total Bytes Written). The larger capacity drives get a higher TBW warranty.

1TB

  • Sequential – Read: Up to 7,150MB/s; Write: Up to 6,300MB/s
  • Random – Read: Up to 850K IOPS; Write: Up to 1,350K IOPS
  • TBW – 600TB

2TB

  • Sequential – Read: Up to 7,250MB/s; Write: Up to 6,300MB/s
  • Random – Read: Up to 1,000K IOPS; Write: Up to 1,350K IOPS
  • TBW – 1200TB

4TB

  • Sequential – Read: Up to 7,250MB/s; Write: Up to 6,300MB/s
  • Random – Read: Up to 1,050K IOPS; Write: Up to 1,400K IOPS
  • TBW – 2,400TB

As usual, one of the greatest perks of buying a Samsung SSD as a PC user is the Samsung Magician software, which allows users to encrypt data, monitor drive health, optimize performance, apply firmware updates, and detect potential failures before they happen.

Samsung offers a five-year limited warranty or TBW (Total Bytes Written) warranty for each 990 EVO Plus — whichever comes first. Check the spec list above for TBW details.
