Samsung has released a software update to an app called ‘Software Update' on Galaxy smartphones and tablets. This has confused many Galaxy users, and they're not at fault. But there's no need to worry, as the app called Software Update is a module that checks for new updates.

to post screenshots about an app called Software Update that has recently received an update on the Galaxy Store. This is the first time Samsung has released an update (version 4.2.39) to that module. The Software Update module seems responsible for checking new OTA (Over The Air) software updates for Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

As you can see in the screenshots above, the Samsung Software Update module has a file size of around 10MB and was updated a few days ago. Some users claim that it adds information about the Android version of a Galaxy device. However, we found that the Android version info was visible on that screen even before the Software Update app was updated.

We found no visible change after installing the update to the Software Update module. Maybe it is meant for some background (and more technical) tasks that users don't need to worry about.
