Apple has requested that the U.S. Supreme Court reject Samsung's latest appeal in the ongoing patent case between the two tech giants. As reported by

, Apple submitted a written argument to the court in which it called the case "unexceptional:"


"Samsung had its day in court — many days, in fact — and the properly instructed jury was well-justified in finding that Samsung copied Apple's designs and should pay the damages that the statute expressly authorizes," Apple said on Thursday. "While this litigation may be high-profile, it is legally unexceptional, and Samsung has shown no reason for this Court to prolong it."

The original verdict in the drawn-out legal battle was handed down in 2012 when it was ruled that Samsung owed Apple more than $1 billion for infringing on various patents. Samsung managed to have that amount substantially lowered over the years since, culminating in the Korean tech giant
