Merely days after it released its new flagship, Samsung today rolled out the first US unlocked

firmware update. It’s a minor update that weighs in at 81.63MB. The changelog doesn’t reveal much because this update doesn’t bring much to begin with.

The first US unlocked Galaxy Note 8 firmware bears version number N950U1UEU1AQI5. The changelog mentions that it improves stability for the Navigation and Google Maps app. The Weather Widget gets similar treatment. The usual slew of bug fixes and stability improvements are onboard as well.

Samsung promised earlier this year that it would do a better job of sending out updates to its unlocked devices in the United States. This is a step in the right direction. Hopefully, Samsung will keep this up and send out timely updates to unlocked Galaxy Note 8 units in the country.
