and will not release any updates for the four-year-old phone going forward. Depending on your country of residence, the last update the Galaxy A42 5G received was back in June or July.

The A42 5G hit retail shelves in November 2020 and was promised updates for four years, so support is ending at the expected time. The last phone in the Galaxy A4x lineup, the A42 was eligible for two major Android OS upgrades, a security update every three months for the first two years, and just two updates annually after that.
