It was back in August of 2015 that Firefly Studios they'd be bringing their MMO strategy game Stronghold Kingdoms from desktop to mobile, and March of 2016 when we took a look at the game during a at last year's GDC. Well, being that this mobile version was built from the ground up it's been taking a while to get finished, which means that we had another chance to check out Stronghold Kingdoms on mobile at this year's GDC.
Having never played the desktop version of Stronghold Kingdoms, or even the original Stronghold series of strategy games that spawned it, I am really blown away by the sheer scale of the game. Pinching and zooming out from your kingdom as it expands to show the region, country, continent, and basically the entire globe is really impressive. Hopefully it won't take Firefly too long to finish polishing this one up and releasing Stronghold Kingdoms on iOS globally in the next few months.
