Driving Mode is now available. The Android Police report, however, confirms that the feature is starting to appear for users in the UK.

You can check if you've received the feature by opening Google Maps on your phone and heading over to Settings > Navigation Settings > Google Assistant settings. In case you're among the lucky few who have received Assistant Driving Mode, you should see a new panel under Google Assistant settings for the feature. If you still see the general Assistant settings page, you'll have to wait longer for the Assistant Driving Mode.

to use the feature, it is only compatible with devices running Android 9.0 or higher with at least 4GB of RAM. When you have the Driving Mode enabled, you can do things like sending text messages, making phone calls, and controlling media with just your voice — without having to leave Google Maps navigation.
