offers extensions for only first-party applications and services for the chatbot, including those for Google Flights, Google Hotels, Google Maps, Google Workspace, and YouTube. You can enable these extensions to allow the chatbot to access those apps and services and offer better answers to queries. Well, the company is now working on offering an extension for one more Google service in Gemini, and that is for

According to a

from Android Authority, version 15.17.28.29 of the Google app for Android (the app that offers Gemini on Android devices) contains a YouTube Music extension for Gemini. Folks at the publication were able to activate the new extension manually and use it. As you might have guessed, this extension allows Gemini to access YouTube Music and provide you with better results for music-related queries.

For example, with the YouTube Music extension enabled, if you ask Gemini to suggest energetic songs, the chatbot will suggest relevant songs and provide you with cards previewing those songs on YouTube Music. Once you click on a card, Gemini will open the YouTube Music app and take you to that song on the platform. If your device doesn’t have the YouTube Music app, it will show you that song on YouTube Music’s web portal.

Google says that the YouTube Music extension for Gemini will allow you to “Play, search, and discover your favorite songs, artists, playlists, and more.” With this extension enabled, Gemini will also be able to access your information on YouTube Music, such as songs in your library, tracks that you’ve liked and disliked and marked favorites, playlists, and more. Doing so will allow the chatbot to offer results according to your preferences. Expect Google to roll out the new extension in the next couple of weeks/months.
