Scheduling a text message on an Android device can be a handy feature for managing your communication efficiently. While not all default messaging apps support this feature, many third-party apps do. Here’s a step-by-step guide to scheduling a text message using a popular third-party app, Google Messages :
Using Google Messages App
- Install Google Messages:
- If you don’t already have Google Messages installed, download and install it from the Google Play Store.
- Open the Play Store, search for "Google Messages," and tap "Install."
- Set Google Messages as Default:
- Go to your device’s Settings.
- Navigate to Apps & notifications (or Apps on some devices).
- Tap Default apps and then SMS app.
- Select Messages from the list to set it as your default messaging app.
- Open Google Messages:
- Launch the Google Messages app from your app drawer or home screen.
- Compose a New Message:
- Tap the + icon or the speech bubble icon to start a new message.
- Enter the recipient’s phone number or choose a contact from your address book.
- Write Your Message:
- Type the text message you want to schedule in the message field.
- Access Scheduling Options:
- Instead of sending the message immediately, tap and hold the Send button (it looks like a paper airplane or arrow).
- A menu will appear with options, including “Schedule message.”
- Set Date and Time:
- After selecting “Schedule message,” a calendar interface will pop up.
- Choose the date and time when you want the message to be sent.
- Tap Save or Confirm once you’ve set your desired time.
- Review and Confirm:
- Review the scheduled message in the conversation thread.
- You should see a clock icon indicating that the message is scheduled.
- Edit or Cancel:
- If you need to make changes or cancel the scheduled message, tap on the message and select the option to edit or cancel it.
