This is the third game in what Somi refers to as his “Guilt Trilogy" which includes the aforementioned Replica and the 2019 PC and Nintendo Switch title Legal Dungeon. And yeah, it feels like a fitting name based on the vibe in this trailer for The Wake.


As you can see, The Wake is a puzzle game that has you solving various ciphers that together will unlock “a record of past wounds opened at a three-day funeral –– a record of the roots of guilt, and the memories and emotions that chain together three generations of a family." The ciphers themselves aren’t designed to be especially challenging, and solving them is more about piecing together the story and more importantly the state of mind of the person who wrote all the ciphers in a journal in the first place. It sounds incredibly intriguing, and as mentioned has been well-received on PC since launching last year.
