Hi, everyone! We’re kicking off a new program in collaboration with PlayStation Store, where once in a while we’ll shine our editorial spotlight on a game we feel deserves more attention. We’re calling it Play This Next.
So, here we are with the first edition of PTN! I’m thrilled not only that I get to kick things off, but that I get to do so with one of the most moving experiences I had last year. If you enjoy narrative-driven gaming experiences, I implore you to play !
Giant Sparrow’s more grown-up follow-up to The Unfinished Swan takes a decidedly darker tone than that of its predecessor, but it manages to maintain an underlying feeling of optimism throughout. An impressive feat, considering that the story revolves around various generations of your family kicking the bucket. What Remains of Edith Finch is a tale of juxtapositions: somber, yet hopeful; disturbing, yet comforting. It’s one of 2017’s most endearing stories, and a true must-play.
