Pushbullet started out as a very nifty service that mirrored your phone's notifications on your computer, but it's added a lot more features in the meantime. You can now act on those notifications from your computer, send text messages from it through the apps on your mobile device, and much more - there's even "universal copy and paste", for example. And while all of this functionality has so far been free, the time has come for the company behind the service to announce how exactly it plans to make money. Turns out the answer is pretty simple: through a paid tier. Hence, Pushbullet Pro was born. This paid subscription goes into effect on December 1. It costs $4.99 per month, or $39.99 per year. The bad news is that come December 1 certain features which have so far been free will only be available if you pay. You won't be able to act on your notifications if you stay with the free tier, for example. Nor will you have access to Universal copy & paste. Sending messages from your computer (but using the apps on your phone) will be capped to 100 per month, while the files you send using Pushbullet will have to be 25MB or smaller, and the storage space you get will be 2GB. On the other hand, if you subscribe to Pushbullet Pro you can send files up to 1GB in size, and you get 100GB of storage as well as unlimited message sending, and priority support. The company obviously could have chosen to show you ads and keep the entire service free, but it says it doesn't want "to hurt the Pushbullet experience with ads" or betray your trust "by selling your data". If you're interested in upgrading to Pro, you can already do that...
