It was reported last week that Samsung Electronics Chairman Jay Y. Lee might visit Paris where he would network with other business leaders and also support the South Korean athletes.
Lee arrived in Paris last Wednesday and has since taken part in a number of high-level business meetings. This is his first visit to an Olympics venue since the 2012 Olympics that took place in London.
Among his in Paris was a luncheon hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace which was attended by more than 40 global business leaders including Tesla CEO Elon Musk, where he exchanged views on the global economic environment, the upcoming trends in technology, and innovation in organizational culture.
Lee will also be meeting heads of global semiconductor, IT and automotive companies. One of his meetings will be with former ASML CEO Peter Wennink. ASML is the only company that supplies cutting-edge chipmaking equipment that Samsung needs for its foundry business. Over the weekend, Lee was in the stands to watch the men's sabre individual final where he supported Oh Sang-uk, who won the first gold medal for the South Korean team.
