Alaska Airlines operates out of Terminal 7 at JFK. This terminal is known for its simplicity, shorter security lines (compared to the much busier Terminal 4 or Terminal 8), and a relatively smooth passenger experience. Terminal 7 is primarily managed by British Airways, but it also hosts a number of other international and domestic carriers, including Alaska Airlines.

Terminal 7 may not be the newest or largest at JFK, but it’s a favorite for many because of its easy navigation, modest size, and proximity to ground transportation options.

Key Features of Terminal 7 for Alaska Airlines Passengers

1.

Alaska Airlines passengers can check in at the designated counters located on the departure level of Terminal 7. Self-service kiosks are also available for faster check-ins and printing of boarding passes. Passengers traveling with checked luggage can proceed to the bag drop counters.

For elite Mileage Plan members and First Class passengers, there’s a priority check-in lane to expedite the process.

. However, it’s still recommended to arrive at least 2 hours before domestic flights and 3 hours before international flights. TSA PreCheck is available, offering expedited security screening to eligible travelers.

Alaska Airlines flights generally depart from gates located on the right side of the terminal after passing through security. Gate assignments can vary, so be sure to check the departure monitors or the Alaska Airlines mobile app for up-to-date information.

Alaska Lounge Access at JFK

Unlike other major hubs such as Seattle or Portland, Alaska Airlines does not currently operate its own lounge at JFK. However, eligible travelers can enjoy access to partner lounges based on their class of service or elite status.

Lounge Options:

  • British Airways Galleries Lounge: Accessible to Alaska Airlines First Class passengers traveling on transcontinental flights or elite Mileage Plan members under certain conditions (check with Alaska Airlines for access policies).
  • Priority Pass Lounges: If you have a Priority Pass membership, you can access lounges such as the Wingtips Lounge located in Terminal 4 (though this would require re-clearing security if you're in Terminal 7).

Dining and Shopping in Terminal 7

While Terminal 7 isn't as large as other terminals at JFK, it still offers a decent range of dining and shopping options for Alaska Airlines passengers.

Dining Options:

  • Dunkin’ Donuts – Perfect for a quick coffee and snack before your flight.
  • Starbucks – Popular for its full coffee menu and light meals.
  • Le Grand Comptoir – A wine bar with a selection of wines and gourmet food.
  • Brooklyn National Deli – A New York-style deli for a classic pastrami sandwich.

Retail and Duty-Free:

  • Duty Free Americas – Available for international passengers, offering alcohol, perfumes, cosmetics, and gifts.
  • Hudson News – Multiple locations for snacks, magazines, books, and travel accessories.
  • Tech on the Go – Great for picking up electronics or travel chargers.

While Terminal 7 lacks the glitzy shopping of Terminal 4, it offers just enough to keep passengers comfortable.
