A tweet is useful for announcing a partnership, but it doesn't always provide enough context.
There may be two companies involved, multiple products, technical integrations and several communities that need to understand what is happening.
A longer announcement can explain the background and provide official links in one place.
That's one reason I think a can complement social media. The social post creates immediate awareness, while the formal announcement provides something people can reference later.
The key is making sure the release actually explains the partnership instead of simply repeating the tweet in 600 words.
Do you think formal partnership announcements are still useful in a social-first environment?
